Black Beauty eggplant is one of the most classic representatives of the eggplant family — American in origin, suitable for both outdoor and tunnel cultivation. Mid-late ripening, forming a dense, low, compact bush that needs no special staking. The fruits average 250–300 g, rounded in shape, with a shiny dark purple skin — the textbook eggplant appearance.
Sowing and growing
Sowing time: February–March in seed trays (eggplant has a long growing season). Transplanting: late May – early June, into a warm, sunny spot. Spacing: 70×50 cm. Nutrient- and heat-loving — enrich the soil with organic compost before planting.
The fruits ripen from July–August through to autumn. Classic uses: moussaka, ratatouille, baba ganoush, breaded and grilled eggplant slices. Black Beauty's round shape is perfect for stuffing and roasting — a true Mediterranean classic in the home garden.
