Still, avoid placing it on uneven shelves, tilting surfaces or thin glass. If you have small children or cats at home, keep it higher up — not for stability reasons but because the lit cone gets hot and the smoke itself exceeds 60 °C.

Yes — the glowing tip of the cone always stays within the holder and never touches the furniture below. Still, as a precaution, put a small ceramic or cork pad underneath, especially on lacquered or polished wood, since slight warming can occur over prolonged use. The smoke leaves no oily residue, but weekly brushing or vacuuming of ash from inside the holder is recommended.
