This lotus-flower-shaped, glazed ceramic incense burner is built around the special spectacle of backflow incense. The smoke from the dedicated cone does not rise upward but flows down densely, like a waterfall, over the burner – creating a serene, almost hypnotic phenomenon.
How it works
The backflow effect requires a cone designed for the purpose, with a hollow base. The heavy, cool smoke travels downward through the inside of the cone and trickles along the surface of the burner. The effect is loveliest in an enclosed, draught-free space.
The lotus symbol
The lotus is a pure flower that rises from the mud above the water, a recurring motif in Eastern art. Tradition knows it as a symbol of purity and spiritual unfolding – so the form gently underscores the calm of the display.
Good to know
Place it on a heat-resistant, stable surface and never leave burning incense unattended. Backflow cones are required for it to work.
