A ceramic burner with a waterfall of scented smoke
This sculpted ceramic burner is designed for backflow incense cones — special cones that release their smoke downwards instead of upwards. The smoke pours over the surface of the figurine like a slow waterfall, drifting along the contours of the piece and settling close to the ground. The dragon-and-Buddha combination brings together two of the most recognisable figures of Asian iconography — strength alongside stillness — and the result is a centrepiece with a meditative, slightly ceremonial character.
How to use it
Place the burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, paper or anything else that could catch a stray ember. Light the tip of a backflow incense cone until it glows, gently blow out the flame, and set the cone on the designated spot at the top of the burner. Within a minute or so, the smoke begins to fall in a soft cascade. The effect works best in a still room — even a small draught will disperse the smoke rather than letting it flow.
Where it sits well
Many people use a backflow burner as the centrepiece of a meditation shelf, a quiet reading nook or a home altar. The hypnotic, slow-moving smoke makes it a calming object to watch in the evening, and the figurine itself stands as a decorative piece even when unlit.
