A backflow burner with a Buddha figure
This ceramic incense burner shows a seated Buddha, surrounded by a calm, restrained shape. With a size of 12 × 10 × 9 cm, it fits comfortably on a small shelf, side table or windowsill, where the slowly winding smoke is easy to watch.
How the backflow effect works
Unlike traditional incense, here you will not see the smoke rising from the cone: a specially designed cone sends its smoke downwards, gliding slowly along the Buddha figure to create a calm, waterfall-like image. This sight alone helps with settling down and many people enjoy simply watching it after a tiring day.
What cone to use
The backflow effect requires special cones with a small channel through the middle. They are lit like regular cones: light the tip, wait until embers form, then blow out the flame and place the cone into the opening on top of the burner. The smoke starts flowing downwards shortly afterwards.
When to bring it out
Many people light it before meditation, during yoga, or for a longer reading session. You can use it whenever you wish to add a touch of visual calm to your room. With a height of 12 cm it is easy to see on a table, so you can follow the smoke flowing downwards from any sitting position.
Use and care
Always use it on a heat-resistant surface, away from anything that catches fire easily. Never leave a lit cone unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. After use, wipe the ceramic with a soft, dry cloth. Sweep away the remaining ash only once it has fully cooled.
