Pineapple cantaloupe is an early, high-yielding traditional variety. Medium-strong growth. The fruit is flattened round, ribbed, with a beautiful yellow rind when ripe. The flesh is fragrant and sweet — its name comes from the truly pineapple-like aroma.

Growing

Sow in April into seed trays; transplant in mid-May to a warm, sunny spot. Plant spacing 80 cm, row spacing 1.5 metres.

The melon ripens in July–August. It's ripe when yellow and gently fragrant. Refreshing when chilled — as dessert, in fruit salad or on its own.
