Why this ametrine piece
The character of ametrine lies in how the drop-shaped polish reveals translucent quartz divided into purple and golden-yellow zones. We recommend it to you because it suits both everyday wear and more formal occasions. Ametrine is the natural union of amethyst and citrine within a single crystal. Bolivian legend says a Spanish conquistador received it as dowry from a native princess in the 17th century. The pendant is roughly 1.5 to 2 centimetres wide and 2 to 3 centimetres tall — a comfortable size that stays light on the neck.
Where it comes from and how it is shaped
The raw material is sourced from deposits in Bolivia, the Anahí mine — the world's most significant ametrine source. Each stone is hand-polished into its teardrop shape: rough grinding sets the form, finer sandpapers refine the surface, polishing paste creates the lustre. The work takes around half an hour to an hour per piece. Every stone is unique, no two exactly alike — part of the appeal of natural minerals.
What it feels like when you wear it
When you hold the pendant, you will notice it is glassy lustre, smooth polished surface where the two colours clearly separate. The drop shape rests gently against the neckline and stays in front while you move, never getting in the way of daily activities. The weight is modest, so you will not feel it as a burden even by the end of the day. The included cord is adjustable, suiting a T-shirt, blouse, jumper or formal dress equally.
How you can use this pendant
Many people wear a crystal pendant like this simply as a beautiful everyday accessory — to work, on a walk, to a family gathering. Others give it as a thoughtful gift to a friend, granddaughter, daughter or mother for a birthday, name-day, Mother's Day or Christmas. Ametrine is traditionally linked with these qualities: balance, harmonising opposites, support in decisions. We share this as folk tradition, not medical fact, and leave the interpretation to you.
Care and cleaning at home
Gently clean the stone with lukewarm water and a soft cotton cloth. It is best protected from harsh chemicals, prolonged direct sunlight, hard impact and scratching — although ametrine is not particularly fragile, the polished surface stays beautiful longer this way. If you take it off for bathing or sleep, store it in a small cloth pouch or soft-lined box so other jewellery cannot scratch it.
