Smooth, tumbled amethyst stones ranging from soft lavender to deep violet. The palm-friendly form is ideal as a pocket stone, for meditation or a mineral collection.
The stone of amethyst
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, its colour created by iron and natural irradiation; its shade ranges from soft lavender to deep violet, with a Mohs hardness of around 7. Tumbling reveals its silky sheen and gentle violet. In crystal lore it is regarded as a stone of calm and clarity, and tradition links it with the crown and third-eye chakras and with meditation.
The tumbled form
Tumbled stones gain their smooth, rounded surface through long polishing, which makes them sit pleasantly in the palm – a favourite as a pocket stone and meditation piece. This selection is mixed A/B quality: as a natural mineral, each piece can differ in shade, pattern and clarity, and every stone is unique. Pieces typically range between 0.5 and 2.5 cm.
Ways to use it
Amethyst works beautifully as a pocket stone, on a bedside table or in a meditation corner, and makes a popular gift companion. Its soft violet brings a calm, contemplative mood to a space.
Care and good to know
This is a durable mineral, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and abrasive surfaces. Now and then you can rinse it under lukewarm water and pat it dry. Prolonged strong sunlight can fade the violet colour over time, so keep it away from it.
