This pendulum is built up in layers: a polished amethyst point, a copper-coil middle section, a silver-tone cap and a long metal chain. The stone is small. It is about 25 cm long including the chain and was made in India.
Copper and silver tone above a purple stone
The purple of the amethyst, the warm copper of the coil and the silver tone of the cap combine into a modern, geometric shape. Thanks to the layers, it looks good from the side as well.
For anyone who likes clean, modern shapes and wants something more decorative than a plain pointed pendulum, this one is a good choice. Held at the end of the chain, it swings slowly and calmly.
Amethyst owes its purple colour to small traces of iron in the crystal. By tradition it is a stone of prayer and meditation.
Which hand to hold it in
Most people hold the chain in their stronger hand and use the other to stop the stone between questions. Try both hands and choose the one in which the pendulum hangs more calmly, with your elbow resting on the table.
The pointed amethyst shows the direction of the swing clearly. Between two questions, always wait until it is completely still, otherwise the second swing simply carries on from the first.
Keeping the coil clean
Dust can settle between the turns of the coil, and a soft, dry brush or cloth removes it easily. Do not soak it in water, and coil the chain loosely for storage. Colour and translucency of amethyst vary, and it can fade in strong, lasting sunlight. Yours will look a little different from the picture.
