The stone of amethyst
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, its colour created by iron and natural irradiation; its shade ranges from soft lavender to deep violet, with a Mohs hardness of around 7. Notable sources include Brazil, Uruguay and Zambia. In crystal lore it is regarded as a stone of calm and clarity, and tradition links it with the crown and third-eye chakras and with meditation.
Character and finish
These chips are raw, natural pieces, so every chip is unique: shade, shape and size may vary slightly from the photo. That is not a flaw but the nature of a genuine mineral. Pieces typically range between 0.5 and 1.5 cm.
