This pendulum shows a star-shaped amethyst in a round, copper-tone frame, together with a long labradorite point. It hangs from a matching metal chain, measures about 25 cm including the chain and was made in India.
Purple star, grey-green point
The amethyst is purple, the labradorite grey-green and the frame a warm copper tone. When you turn the labradorite slowly, a bluish or greenish flash appears on its surface at certain angles. Photos rarely capture this flash, and it looks far better in real life.
Tradition links amethyst with meditation and labradorite with intuition. Together the two colours look deeper and darker than the versions with clear quartz.
Quiet watching without a question
A pendulum is not only for asking questions. Some people simply give it a gentle push and watch the star swing slowly to and fro for a few minutes, paying attention to their own breathing. Those few minutes can be a short, quiet break in the day.
If you would like to try it, sit comfortably, rest your elbow and choose a quiet moment, for example in the morning before your coffee. A minute or two is enough, and if your hand gets tired, put it down.
Keeping the colours at their best
Do not leave amethyst in strong sunlight for long periods, as it can fade. Labradorite is a little softer than quartz, so do not store it tipped in with other stones. Wipe the frame and chain with a soft, dry cloth. Colour, pattern and translucency vary from stone to stone, so yours will look a little different from the picture.
