Apple pepper hot — outdoor, thick-fleshed, pleasantly hot, 40–45 g fruits, excellent for pickling.
Hot apple pepper is the classic Hungarian pickling pepper. Suitable for outdoor cultivation, indeterminate. The fruit is pleasantly hot — not too strong, but flavourful-hot — thick-fleshed, averaging 40–45 g. Typical apple-shaped fruit.
Growing
Sow in February–March into seed trays. Transplant in late May to the garden. Plant spacing 40 cm, row spacing 50 cm.
Fruits ripen from July onwards. Typical uses: fermented apple pepper, vinegar pickles, hot seasoning. The thick walls make it especially good for pickling — the structure holds beautifully even after weeks in the brine.
