Sound and character
The large Powwow speaks with a deep, rich, enveloping drum voice. The thick regional cowhide produces a full, rumbling fundamental, and double heading sustains the inner resonance for a long time. During extended trance-like play, in sync with heartbeat or walking pace, you barely need to exert force — the drum almost carries the player.
How to use
Assemble the stand with the included fittings, place the drum on top, and play with the supplied KF-3 mallets. Ritual drumming is not virtuoso playing — it is the synchronous, monotonous rhythm that organises group attention. University research shows that monotonous rhythm alters brainwaves and states of consciousness, which is why it is used for shamanic journeys, circle rituals, and full-moon drumming.
Why this product
You are taking home a drum built for community and ceremonial use, from a real artisan workshop. The reinforced stand construction and the four-point suspension made of woven sailing rope are durable, stable and professional in standard. Many decades of building experience stand behind it.
Care tips
- Never reach inside the drum or between the tensioning cords — there is a risk of pinching.
- Store in a stable temperature, moderately dry place — the hide can dry out or slacken in extreme conditions.
- Refresh the wooden frame once a year with hard-wax oil.
- In group work, the four mallets let several players take part in the ritual at once.
