2-ply paper adhesive tape is the eco-friendly alternative to traditional PVC-based packing tape. Two layers of kraft paper combined with a woven reinforcing thread give a secure seal that meets most postal shipping requirements — while remaining 100% recyclable and compostable together with the cardboard box. The water-activated (gummed) adhesive leaves no residue on hands or surfaces.
What the 100-metre roll is used for
The 100 m roll covers the monthly volume of an average small-business webshop: at 5-10 parcels per day it lasts 1-2 months, and 2-3 weeks during seasonal peaks (Christmas, Black Friday). The 72 mm width is suitable for sealing every standard cardboard box edge, including longer boxes.
Two-ply structure and durability
A reinforcing thread (glass fibre or polyester yarn) woven between the two kraft paper layers gives the tensile strength. A sealed cardboard box holds up to 20-25 kg with this tape, covering most postal load limits. The paper surface does not tear when cut straight, so the parcel can be opened cleanly with a box-cutter blade or rotary opener.
Water-activated adhesion
The underside of the tape is factory-coated with a gummed layer (gum arabic or starch-based adhesive) that is inactive while dry. A damp sponge or the water chamber of a manual dispenser machine activates the adhesive at the moment of application. The activated adhesive bonds to the cardboard within seconds, and the final layer becomes practically impossible to remove — significantly increasing postal security as well.
Typical areas of use
- Sealing cardboard webshop parcels
- Daily packing-station tasks in handcraft workshops
- House moves and archiving (5-10 year shelf life)
- Christmas or seasonal gift wrapping on kraft boxes
- Preparation for postal and courier services
Storage and handling
Keep the paper adhesive tape in a dry, cool place — humidity can activate the adhesive accidentally. The ideal storage temperature is 5-25 C, with humidity below 60%. An unopened roll has a 2-3 year shelf life from manufacture if stored under proper conditions. After opening, place the roll in a sealed box to protect the remaining useful life.
