Why an aluminium cap rather than plastic?

Aluminium is chemically inert and corrosion-resistant: it does not react with essential oils, does not allow odors to permeate, and contains no BPA, phthalates or other plasticizers. With plastic caps, citrus essential oils and varieties high in monoterpenes can over time soften or discolor the cap. Aluminium is also easily recyclable, which matters to natural cosmetics makers.

What kind of UV protection does the frosted grey glass provide?

The matte surface is produced by acid-etching and provides a mild light-diffusing effect: it scatters part of the visible light and reduces UV exposure as well. The protection does not match the UV-filtering capacity of classic amber glass, but it is noticeably better than plain clear glass. If you are storing extremely light-sensitive essential oils (for example citrus oils, chamomile, jasmine absolute) for a longer period, we recommend keeping the filled bottle in a cool, dark place, upright — together, the matte surface and dark storage provide the best protection.
