What is in the pack of 100
The pack contains 100 flat biodegradable courier mailer bags. Size: 400×550 mm. These bags are not bubble-padded — they are made of a single-layer, thin and flexible film that looks similar to an HDPE plastic mailer, but with a completely different chemical composition. The surface has a natural matte appearance with a faint neutral tone.
Material: PBAT and PLA biopolymer
Two biopolymers are combined: PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate) provides flexibility and tear strength, while PLA (polylactic acid, from corn or sugarcane starch) provides rigidity. This combination preserves the practical qualities of plastic mailers (lightweight, thin, short-term waterproof), but after use microorganisms can break it down into carbon dioxide, water and organic matter. Important: full breakdown requires industrial composting conditions (≥58 °C, appropriate moisture, a microbial medium). In a home compost the process is significantly slower and not guaranteed.
Size and use cases
The 400×550 mm size is suitable for packaging larger shipments. It comfortably accommodates larger clothing (a jumper, jacket, multiple garments), textiles (a towel, a smaller blanket), A3 poster packs, or larger multi-item orders. Due to the flat construction these bags are ideal for thinner products; for bulkier, irregularly shaped items we recommend the similarly sized bubble mailers from the same family.
Closure system and opening
A self-adhesive strip runs along the top of the bag with a release liner. After removing the liner, fold the flap onto the back and press — the adhesive bonds immediately. The recipient can tear open the sealed section along a small notch; the bag has a single-use seal and cannot be resealed. The adhesive strength is optimised for the biopolymer material.
Storage and breakdown conditions
Store the bags in a dry, cool, dark place, in their original packaging. It is a natural property of the biopolymer material that prolonged exposure to moisture, heat or UV light slowly initiates breakdown — do not stockpile them for years. Ideally, use up the stock within 12–18 months. After use, under industrial composting conditions (above 58 °C) the material breaks down into water, carbon dioxide and organic matter in approximately 90 days. In natural soil the process is slower, but still orders of magnitude faster than conventional PE plastic.
