What Is in an Orgonite?
A typical orgonite piece contains three key components. Resin — usually polyester or epoxy — serves as the organic matrix that binds the object and creates the alternating organic-inorganic structure considered central to orgone accumulation in Reich's theory. Metal shavings — most commonly copper, aluminum, or steel — embedded in the resin provide the inorganic layer. Copper is the most frequently used metal due to its association with conductivity and crystal healing traditions. Crystals — quartz, amethyst, tourmaline, shungite, or other minerals — are embedded with specific intention: quartz for amplification, black tourmaline for protection and grounding, amethyst for spiritual clarity, shungite for EMF protection (a frequently claimed but scientifically contested property).
Forms and Applications
Orgonite is cast into a variety of forms. Pyramids are the most classic form, combining the orgonite material with the pyramidal geometry considered significant in sacred geometry traditions. Discs and towers are used for directional placement. Small palm pieces are used for personal energy work and meditation. Larger pieces are used as home décor and are often placed near electronic devices, in the corners of rooms, or in specific feng shui positions.
